Respiratory Therapist I
Your Opportunity:
The Respiratory Therapist I is responsible for diagnostic, therapeutic and educational respiratory health services to all patient areas within Red Deer Regional Hospital as prescribed by a physician or in accordance with approved treatment protocols or procedures.
Description:
As a Respiratory Therapist I, you will assess patients (clients, resident), develop and implement respiratory therapy care plans and monitor their progress. You will be responsible for various diagnostic and therapeutic equipment and interventions. You will collaborate with various clinical teams and groups to enhance clinical outcomes. You will provide training and assist health care providers in the use and care of respiratory equipment as well as educate patients and their families regarding diseases, medications, equipment and treatments.

Active or eligible registration with the College and Association of Respiratory Therapists of Alberta (CARTA).
Additional Required Qualifications:Graduation from a recognized school of Respiratory Therapy required. Registered Respiratory Therapist in good standing with CARTA is required. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) and NRP required. Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and handle competing priorities. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and foster partnerships. Minimum one year acute care experience in ICU, ED, NICU, wards. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writing.
Preferred Qualifications:ACLS preferred. Experience in computer applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is desired. Experience with Meditech and Laboratory Specimen ordering is preferred.
