Required Qualifications:

The Research Associate will hold a Master’s Degree in a health-related field and bring a minimum of three years’ experience in a health promotion or population health-related field. Experience with quantitative and qualitative research methodology in Indigenous health and/or public health research. Experience and knowledge of Indigenous health, ways of knowing, relationship building/engagement/community-based approaches to research. Knowledge of Indigenous research methodologies and sensitivity around the culture and health issues of Indigenous people as well as successful experience working in multi-cultural environments. Demonstrated skills and experience in research methods, particularly quantitative research methodologies and bio-statistical analyses, strong technical writing skills and ability to translate complex scientific evidence for informed decision making. Firm understanding of research design and methods.


Additional Required Qualifications:

At least two years’ experience working with statistical analysis software (SAS, Stata or SPSS preferred). Self-directed with strong analytical skills, attention to detail, with an ability to handle multiple tasks. Excellent interpersonal and team skills. Strong written and oral skills for the use in the development of oral presentations, summaries, reports, journal articles, systematic literature reviews, and manuscripts, etc. Liaises with internal and external contacts to participate in scientific activities. Knowledge of social determinants of health and associated modifiable risk factors, including strategies and best practice evidence. Experience in literature reviews and synthesis of large amounts of information. Aptitude for building and sustaining complex relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.


Preferred Qualifications:

Ability to manage and prioritize work and meet deadlines. Ability to work with high level external and internal key stakeholders. Ability to facilitate and participate in working groups and steering committees. Knowledge of project management methodology.
