Completion of an accredited Psychiatric nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Alberta (CRPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:Consults with and utilizes the resources of the interdisciplinary team of the Seniors Mental Health Program at CCMHBI, Mental Health Centers teams and any other program that provides geriatric services. Consults with and utilizes these resources both directly and indirectly through interactive communication technologies such as Telehealth. Minimum of three (3) years of experience in Mental Health Nursing. Minimum of 2 years of Community Mental Health experience. A working knowledge of psychiatric pharmacology. Completion of physical assessment course. Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills. Working knowledge of mental health resources. Working Knowledge of senior populations. Possession of a valid non-GDL driver’s license and access to a motor vehicle in good repair for work-related travel is required. Must have active registration within the Health Professions Act and with the respective provincial governing body Functions in accordance with CARNA and CRPNA regulations, standards of practice and the Health Disciplines Act, incorporating ethical and legal requirements in the professional practice.
Preferred Qualifications:Baccalaureate degree in nursing is preferred, however, skills and experience relevant to nursing practice in community sector will be considered. Training in suicide and crisis intervention: Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) Certificate or equivalent.
