Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Possess good decision making skills, exercise sound judgment and be able to work effectively in stressful/busy situations. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are a necessity with the ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with other members of the multi-disciplinary team. Able to work in a physically challenging environment; constant walking, lifting and bending necessary. Knowledge of nursing clinical best practice standards/protocol and nursing practice fundamentals. Demonstrates respect and professionalism with staff, patients, families and others. Ability to create an empowering work environment and supports knowledge transfer. Complies with Health Professions Act regulations and ensures continuing competence. Possess clear and assertive communication skills and strong organizational and multi-tasking skills. Demonstrates an awareness of accident and injury prevention; adheres to safe work practices and procedures and is responsible for maintaining self-wellness. An expectation is that the Registered Nurse will be in the charge role while effectively managing other responsibilities such as a patient assignment, discharge planning, triaging admission referrals and liaison with Alberta Health Services and external agencies.

Preferred Qualifications:

Certification in care of PICC lines and/or blood draws from a PICC line an asset. Experience in care of medical, post-operative surgical or orthopedic patients as asset. Experience in the care of Subacute and Transition patients also an asset.
