Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Recent experience working with teenagers, diverse cultures, and marginalized populations and knowledge, understanding and demonstrated use of the determinants of health, health promotion, and harm reduction required. Strong assessment, communication, organization, problem solving and counseling skills required. Ability to be self-directed and to exercise independent nursing judgment required. Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively with members of a multidisciplinary health care team required. Strong interpersonal skills required. Strong written and oral communication skills required. Strong analytical, critical thinking, decision making, and organizational skills required. Demonstrated initiative in self-directed ongoing learning and peer education. Working knowledge of computer applications including basic word processing, email, Internet access and data entry required. Ability to perform physical demands such as to pack, lift, move, and transport heavy and/or awkward supplies to various work sites; Service delivery may require walking several blocks and climbing several flights of stairs, awkward and repetitive movements, sitting, standing, and/or bending for long periods of time.

Preferred Qualifications:

Baccalaureate degree in Nursing (BN), Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) or Bachelor of Nursing is preferred; however, skills and experience relevant to nursing practice in community sector will be considered. Recent experience within the last two years in contraceptive, sexual, and reproductive health is preferred. Canadian Nurses Association Certification in Community Health Nursing an asset. Recent immunization experience considered an asset.
