Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:Completion of a Peri-operative nursing course/ certificate. Minimum of 3 years current operating room experience in a high acuity OR. Ability to perform consistently in a highly organized and rapid moving environment. Ability to collaborate within the expectations of an integrated team. Ability to stand scrubbed for many hours and to meet the physical demands of the position. Ability to demonstrate communications skills that promote respect and a positive team environment. Demonstrates advanced problem solving skills integrating critical thinking and good judgment. Incumbent should have effective interpersonal and written communication skills. Computer skills including experience in electronic charting & Microsoft Outlook.
Preferred Qualifications:Knowledge of advanced minimally invasive surgery, robotic surgery, multi-traumas. Canadian Nursing Association (CNA) Certification in Peri-operative Nursing. Peri-operative Certificate from an approved school of nursing. Preference will be given to candidates with previous operating room experience who have taken a perioperative undergraduate course.
