Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:Baccalaureate degree in Nursing (BN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) is preferred. Other skills and experiences relevant to nursing practice in the community sector will be considered. Recent experience (within the past two years) in Public health nursing or other recent nursing experience in maternal/postpartum/pediatrics or Occupational Health and Safety with immunization experience is required. Ability to be self-directed and to exercise independent nursing judgment required. Strong interpersonal skills required. Brings a keen understanding of inclusivity and working with vulnerable populations. Experience in inter-professional team work required. Strong written and oral communication skills required. Strong analytical, critical thinking, decision making, and organizational skills required. Working knowledge of computer applications including basic word processing, email, Internet access and data entry required. Able to lift and carry necessary immunization supplies and equipment, repetitive arm motions and sitting and bending for long periods. Ability to work a variety of shifts including days, evenings and weekends.
Preferred Qualifications:Canadian Nurses Association Certification in Community Health Nursing an asset. Recent experience (within the past two years) immunizing babies, preschool, school aged children and/or adults is preferred. Experience working with teens, diverse cultures, and vulnerable populations and knowledge, understanding and demonstrated use of the social determinants of health and health promotion is preferred. Experience working with an EMR (Meditech, connect care) is preferred.
