Registered Nurse
Your Opportunity:
This position reports to the Manager and/or designate and is responsible for providing quality care on the Gastroenterology Endoscopy Unit. Duties are designated by role in recovery or procedure rooms. In recovery duties include pre-admission history, medication reconciliation, IV initiation and pre-procedural orders, recovery post procedure, performing any medical directions and discharge teaching. Procedural rooms duties include, but are not limited to room and scope preparation, medication preparation, procedural sedation administration, assisting MD with procedure (biopsy, snares, gluing), patient positioning and traction, recovery after procedure and transfer to recovery. Current hours of operation are Monday to Friday: 0700 - 1800 and may change to meet operational requirements.

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 to $55.79 per hour. Upon obtaining a full practice permit, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable.

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. Additional Required Qualifications:Minimum 4 years current acute medical/surgical nursing experience required. Charge Nurse Training and experience required. Ability to push/pull stretcher with patient (portering a requirement of job). Able to lift weights 25 lbs. over shoulder. Able to lift 35 lbs. from waist to shoulder/floor to waist. Able to stand for very long periods of time and perform numerous physical activities. Demonstrated technical dexterity, knowledge and skill working with computer technology required. Demonstrated ability to function independently and within a team environment required. Strong leadership, excellent communication and decision-making skills required. NOTE - Successful orientation requires commitment of minimum availability of 3 days per week for a 2-to-3-month period of time.
Preferred Qualifications:Previous experience in Gastroenterology including endoscopy preferred. Previous experience with therapeutic GI procedures preferred. Competence in administering IV procedural sedation preferred. Previous ICU or Emergency experiences an asset.
