Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Must demonstrate a keen interest in all aspects of oncology nursing. Recent adult critical, acute, emergency and/or ambulatory oncology experience required. Excellent assessment and proven intravenous therapy skills. Must demonstrate strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills; the ability to establish and maintain positive interpersonal relationships is key. Must demonstrate strong critical thinking skills and have the ability to work both independently, and collaboratively, within a multidisciplinary team. Proficient in accessing Meditech, Netcare and/or ARIA MO.

Preferred Qualifications:

Canadian Oncology Nursing Certificate is considered an asset. de Souza OPREP Foundations Part 1 or equivalent. The Provincial Standardized Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Course (PSCB). Certification and excellent adult venipuncture and related IV skills (peripheral and central venous access) preferred. Familiarity and certification in the use of IV Infusion pumps, port-a-caths, central venous lines, home infusion pumps. Experience charting and navigating in an electronic medical record.
