Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:Certification/current experience with IV initiation & phlebotomy. Excellent organizational, interpersonal, communication and priority setting skills required. Demonstrated excellent assessment, leadership, and patient care. Able to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment. Proven reliability/dependability required. Current acute care surgical nursing with a minimum 2 years’ experience is required. Ability to deal with patients who are acutely ill in an unpredictable and stressful environment. Ability to work in a physically demanding environment: Considerable standing/walking; lifting, positioning, pushing and/or transferring patients; considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching (continuously for 5.5 - 7 hours per shift). Walking (continuously for 5.5 - 7 hours per shifts) and lifting up to fifty pounds. Pushing beds/stretchers multiple times for prolonged distance between units. Able to work staggered shifts. Basic computer skills are necessary.
Preferred Qualifications:Baccalaureate degree in nursing preferred. ACLS an asset. Recent Charge Nurse experience. Advanced knowledge of regional/neuroaxial/multimodal anesthesia. Current clinical experience in a fast-paced, high turnover preoperative/day surgery unit is an asset.
