Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:WHMIS required. Cytotoxic Certified. Experience with Netcare, Outlook Express, e-People, Microsoft Office products. Previous experience with an electronic medical record (EMR) and Connect Care. Certification in IV initiation and IV push medications with demonstrated clinical expertise. Expertise with peripheral lines and blood withdrawal. Certification in Central Line Care with demonstrated clinical expertise. Blood glucose monitoring certification. PICC removal. Medical/Surgical inpatient experience (3 years). Ambulatory Care setting experience (1 year). Wound care experience. Strong knowledge in anaphylaxis precautions Applicants must be able to push/pull/transfer and assist bariatric patients in W/C or over uneven surfaces with weights in excess of 350 pounds (150KG) Ability to function independently and as a member of a multi disciplinary team is required.
Preferred Qualifications:Huber needle insertion and removal for implanted vascular access devices (e.g. Port-a-Cath) Therapeutic phlebotomy Removal of short term percutaneously inserted CVC (e.g. triple lumen CVC) Familiarity with community resources is an asset
