Your Opportunity:

We are looking for an experienced RN to add to the 1 East Team. Cardiac interventions would be based on accurate clinical assessment of the patient, utilizing their critical decision making skills. As an integral member of the multidisciplinary team, you will participate in the development, implementation and evaluation of the overall care plan for each patient. The unit offers the opportunity for all nursing staff to work to the full scope of practice. The successful candidate will adhere to and maintain current professional practice standards, Code of Ethics, hospital and program policies and procedures. Unit 1 East is a 28-bed unit, including 8 post angioplasty recovery beds, focusing on the care of cardiology patients. Inpatient Cardiology provides an extensive orientation/training program supported by a strong multidisciplinary team approach, consisting of both classroom and clinical time, with the assistance of a CNE and staff members ranging from novice to expert. Cardiac Services promotes career growth and development, and takes pride in adhering to the most current Standards of Care and instilling Nursing Excellence among its staff. Unit 1 East is the first in AHS to undertake the award winning Transfer of Accountability (TOA) handover process that involves patients directly.


As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Registered Nurse (within past 6 months of acute care) adult cardiology experience required. ECG monitoring experience required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Post angioplasty experience preferred. Charge Nurse experience preferred.
