Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:Minimum 1-2 years recent Nursing experience required. Demonstrate effective time management and organizational skills. Demonstrated critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making abilities required. Must have Physical Assessment, IV Therapy and Medication Administration course. Successful candidate must be able to lift 40lbs (18kg). Basic computer skills required. The AKC program requires candidates to complete/pass Hemodialysis Training. This training will be full-time for 5 weeks in either Edmonton or Red Deer. Candidates with previous experience will be required to complete Hemodialysis Training as per Manager/Educators discretion. A passing mark of 80% on the final exam and satisfactory performance during clinical component is required to move on to buddy shifts. Candidates are also required to attend 2-day mandatory post orientation (3 Months Post). Upon successful completion of the orientation the RN will be able to proceed to the unit specific orientation - shifts as assigned by Unit Manager on site but may also include the other AKC sites. The target start date is December 6, 2020 if candidate is already AKC-N trained in Dialysis. If training is required, the target start date will be January 4, 2021.
Preferred Qualifications:Recent acute and chronic Hemodialysis and or nephrology nursing experience is an asset. Demonstrated effective time management and organizational skills. Demonstrated knowledge of case management is an asset.
