If you are a Registered Nurse (RN) who likes small town living and working with the elderly, then this position in Drumheller Continuing Care might be just what you’re looking for! Drumheller Continuing Care is an 88 bed unit located in a rural setting where RNs work within a multidisciplinary team environment to provide excellent resident centred care. This environment is suitable for candidates who have a strong interest and skills in providing care to the elderly client, including those diagnosed with Alzheimer disease or other dementias. Recent gerontology nursing experience and/or education, Charge Nurse, and leadership training would definitely be an asset. In this role, the Registered Nurse - Continuing Care will work within a multidisciplinary team to provide clinical leadership, direction, supervision, mentoring to other professionals and unregulated staff. You will be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of quality care following policies and guidelines of Alberta Health Services. You will also demonstrate genuine interest and respect for our patients and utilize your knowledge, skills, and abilities to competently provide direct resident and family centered care. Drumheller is located 135 km from Calgary and 160 km from Red Deer, with a population of 8,029 and is located in the valley of the Alberta Badlands. Drumheller residents benefit from a wide variety of recreational facilities and amenities within the town, such as the Aquaplex for swimming, the Memorial Arena for skating and the Badlands Community Facility for fitness and library resources.

Description:

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Preferred Qualifications:

2 years’ experience working with elderly clients is preferred. Experience with RAI 2.0, Meditech, Supportive Pathways is preferred.
