Required Qualifications:

Completion of a certificate from an accredited Dental Assisting Program. Active or eligible for registration with the College of Alberta Dental Assistants (CADA).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Proficient computer skills including Power Practice and Microsoft Office (Excel/Word/Outlook). Good understanding of insurance coverage and available government supports. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Minimum three years of clinical experience as a dental assistant. Operate related dental equipment. Record appropriate and relevant medical, dental history and vital signs. Possess strong foundational knowledge of dental management of medically complex patients as it relates to working in a dental clinic within a hospital environment. Knowledge and demonstration of techniques and standards of preventative, restorative, prosthodontic and surgical clinical practice. Patient oral health education. Assist in scheduling patient appointments. Efficient in accurate record keeping for dental exams/procedures. Perform intra-oral duties: including but not limited to impressions, x-rays, prophylaxis, pit and fissure sealants, temporary crowns, and fluoride. Demonstrated excellence of communication and interpersonal skills as outlined in section G of the CADA competency profile. Physically able to carry out the duties of this position. 75% of shift is spend standing and/or walking. Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications:

Able to work with minimum supervision. Ability to work independently but within a dynamic, multidisciplinary team setting.
