Required Qualifications:

Completion of bachelor's degree in Recreation Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation or Recreation and Leisure Studies. Active or eligible registration for Professional Membership with Alberta Therapeutic Recreation Association (ATRA). Minimum three years' related clinical experience as a Recreation Therapist.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Demonstrated professional competencies (assessment, intervention/treatment planning, supervision/leadership to a therapy team, critical thinking, judgment, documentation, research, evaluation, program development, case management, etc.). Developing and providing functional intervention, leisure education and recreation participation in a variety of clinical and community settings. Extensive knowledge and practical experience with translating research/evaluation and standards/guidelines into program. Must be able to work independently as well as collaboratively with a variety of disciplines, management and physicians. Proven ability to be resourceful, creative, adaptive, flexible, and possess strong participative and collaborative skills including excellent communication skills to promote positive outcomes for clients, and have established ability to set priorities and independently follow through on expectations. Experience developing effective and professional departmental policies, procedures, guidelines and clinical protocols. Experience facilitating and participating in effective primary care and quality improvement initiatives. Experience with providing input into the selection of staff. Proven ability to provide effective leadership and supervision to staff, students and volunteers. Experience with providing input into budgets and developing proposals.

Preferred Qualifications:

Proficient computer and communications technology skills. Physically capable of pushing wheelchairs for an extended period of time and performing client transfers. Alberta Fitness and Leadership Certification. Supportive Pathways training an asset. Experience with geriatric or psycho-geriatric and mental health population is desirable. Current BCLS-HCP (CPR) certification.
