Required Qualifications:

Completion of bachelor's degree in Recreation Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation or Recreation and Leisure Studies. Active or eligible registration with Alberta Therapeutic Recreation Association (ATRA).

Additional Required Qualifications:

2-5 years’ experience in a Recreation Therapist position in Long Term Care, Acute Care & community setting. 2-5 years demonstrated knowledge and competency with TR professional standards of practice, best available evidence/research, assessments, client-centered treatment plans, identifying outcomes, individual and group treatment interventions, evaluation, interdisciplinary collaboration and documentation. Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS). Fitness Alberta certification: Foundations in Physical Activity & Exercise and Fitness for the Older Adult. Dementia Care training and/or certifications (Dementia Practice Guidelines for Recreational Therapy, Montessori Based Therapy). Aquatic Therapy training/experience. Expressive art and Music Care experience. Valid Heart and Stroke Foundation-Basic Life Support -Health Change Methodology. Demonstration of continuing education. Physically capable of pushing a wheelchairs for an extended period of time and performing patient transfers. Punctual, meticulous, reliable and demonstrates regular attendance. Preference will be given to candidates who currently hold these qualifications. Per AHS policy the successful candidate must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 or be eligible for accommodation based on religious beliefs or medical status.
