Required Qualifications:

Completion of bachelor's degree in Recreation Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation or Recreation and Leisure Studies. Active or eligible registration for Professional Membership with Alberta Therapeutic Recreation Association (ATRA).

Additional Required Qualifications:

2-3 years’ experience in a Recreation Therapist position in a community setting. 2-3 years demonstrated knowledge and competency with therapeutic recreation professional standards of practice, best available evidence/research, assessments, client-centered treatment plans, identifying outcomes, individual and group treatment interventions, evaluation, interdisciplinary collaboration and documentation. Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS). Alberta Fitness Leadership Certification Association (AFLCA) with a specialty in Fitness for the Older Adult. Dementia Care training and/or certifications (i.e. Dementia Practice Guidelines). Current CPR certificate required. First Aid certification. Demonstration of Continuing Education. Motivational Interviewing/Health Change Methodology. Food Sanitation & Hygiene Certification (in facility). Physically capable of pushing a wheelchairs for an extended period of time and performing patient transfers. Punctual, meticulous and reliable. Demonstrates regular attendance.
