Required Qualifications:

Completion of doctoral degree in Psychology in an applied area relevant to the practice setting from a Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) or American Psychological Association (APA) program. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Active or eligible for registration with the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Doctoral degree in clinical psychology from a CPA or APA accredited program is required. Post internship registration eligibility/active registration with the College of Alberta Psychologists in a clinical capacity required. Completion of an approved CPA/APA Doctoral internship with a focus/emphasis in forensic mental health is required. Knowledge of the common psychological tests used to assess cognitive functioning, personality and psychopathology in adolescents is required. Knowledge of risk assessment tools used with adolescent populations (i.e. general, violence and sexual offence recidivism) is required. Experience formulating and diagnosing mental health issues using the DSM 5 as a reference is required. Familiarity with best practices in the assessment and treatment of adolescent offenders. 3 to 5 years’ experience in a adolescent mental health setting. Experience in administration and interpretation of psychometric testing is required. Effective interpersonal and communications skills required. Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage changing priorities and work demands. Demonstrated ability and experience working collaboratively with other community services, stakeholders and partners. Ability to foster a collaborative work environment required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Full registration preferred. 1 to 3 years’ experience in a forensic adolescent mental health In/Out outpatient setting preferred. Proven accomplishments and participation in professional development. Demonstrated leadership and facilitation abilities preferred. Experience writing forensic reports is preferred. Current Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training preferred.
