Required Qualifications:

Completion of master's degree in Psychology in an applied area relevant to the practice setting from an accredited university program. Active or eligible for registration with the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a mental health therapist role, working with clients who have complex mental health and/or concurrent disorders and problems related to social and occupational functioning. Experience obtained through student practicum/placement will not be considered. However, such experience may be used in evaluating the range of skills and knowledge acquired specific to the position. Advanced practice knowledge and skills in screening, assessment, treatment planning and evaluation, and competence in using one or more evidence based psychotherapies as well as psychosocial interventions (individual, family, and group). Knowledge and experience in recovery based care, concurrent disorders, trauma informed practice, culturally sensitive practice, and interdisciplinary collaborative care. Training and experience in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Competency to use or learning plan to develop proficiency with diagnostic classification (DSM 5, ICD). Computer proficiency (position requires use of an electronic medical record). Suicide Risk Management in Ambulatory Services, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NCI), and CPR (all employer provided).

Preferred Qualifications:

Training and experience in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PE), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). Training and experience in treating substance use disorders. Experience working with Veterans/Canadian Armed Forces/RCMP. Experience with psychotropic medications. Experience with chronic pain management.
