Your Opportunity:

To provide a safe and secure environment for all staff, patients, and visitors. Carry out all required duties in a lawful and consistent manner. Appropriate response to emergent situations. Report and investigate irregularities: patrols, controlling access within and out of the centre. Assist Clinical staff with patient interventions. Equipment inspections and report deficiencies. Escort patients within the centre. Assist Clinical Staff in the Emergency Room, and Patient Care Units.


As a Protective Services Officer (PSO) I, you will provide front line level security services designed to proactively mitigate loss or damage, de-escalate incidents of aggression and to ensure a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors. You will also respond to security, fire and personal safety related issues in accordance with current legislation and established AHS and site policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Active or eligible for appointment as a Community Peace Officer II by the Alberta Solicitor General.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Must have successfully completed the P.A.R.E. within the previous 6 months.

Preferred Qualifications:

2 years Post-secondary education in a related field or law enforcement. Verbal Judo or Non-Violent Crisis Intervention. Preference given to individuals with recent hospital, law enforcement and or security experience. First Aid and BCLS-HCP.
