Your Opportunity:

The Project Manager - BMT & Apheresis is responsible to work in collaboration with the Bone Marrow Transplant & Hematology teams to prepare the Apheresis/BMT Program at the Cross Cancer Institute in Edmonton for accreditation in both Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT) and Health Canada. FACT standards promote improvement and progress in cellular therapy and is committed to controlling every aspect that impacts the quality of products and therapeutic care. FACT is recognized around the world to instill confidence in an organizations program. The successful candidate would be involved in SOP creation and clinical pathway development and documentation. All Non-Union Exempt positions are being reviewed for possible inclusion in the AUPE General Support Services bargaining unit. If this position is impacted, the incumbent will be notified accordingly.


The Project Manager works independently and in collaboration with the malignant hematology team while reporting to the Patient Care Manager (PCM). The position is responsible for guiding the development, implementation and ongoing management of the Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT) standards in addition to Health Canada regulations at the Cross Cancer Institute (CCI). Independently develops plans to execute implementation of the program and assesses direction for changing needs and practice. Keeps apprised of changes and provides consultation on initiatives supporting practice advancement and standards to the program. Provides knowledge and guidance while leading the development of the FACT program in accordance to the standards set out by FACT. Provides knowledge and guidance in preparing for Health Canada accreditation Identifies required changes and standardization of FACT and Health Canada to ensure compliance with the program. Implement strategic plan to optimize organization build and maintain a high performance workplace. Provides effective strategies to communicate progress along with regulatory changes as well as education to staff of same to achieve established goals and objectives.

Required Qualifications:

Baccalaureate degree in a health related field required. Master’s Degree in Business, Administration or Health related field. Minimum 2 years’ experience leading projects using project management and/or quality and process improvement methodologies and tools. Formal project management training.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Strong knowledge of and commitment the principles and practice of Patient & Family Centered Care and Engagement. A demonstrated clear pattern of professional and personal development. Demonstrate knowledge and expertise in areas of project management, change management, data analysis and evaluation, quality and process improvement, risk management. Effective communicator with strong organizational skills, influential skills, client focused orientation and commitment to providing quality services. Leadership skills, including demonstrated ability and comfort with decision making responsibilities, coaching and teaching, and the ability to motivate, inspire and build confidence in others to achieve common goals.

Preferred Qualifications:

Project management designation (i.e. PMP) is an asset. Experience in a health related field or laboratory environment preferred. Demonstrated ability to manage change. Excellent analytical and evidence-based decision-making skills. Strong track record in establishing and maintaining effective collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Task & Goal Oriented; able to develop and execute a project plan through to completion.
