Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or diploma in nursing or respiratory therapy. Minimum 5 years of current experience in Alberta Health Services. Current experience caring for critically ill patients in either Intensive Care or Emergency Departments (ICU, PICU, CVICU, ED). Minimum of 2 years progressive education, leadership or zonal experience supporting such areas as clinical practice guidelines, change management, policy/procedure, equipment/safety. Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work positively and constructively in a team environment and proven ability to foster relationships and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders. Excellent communication skills, including a communication style that enables successful dissemination of leading practice knowledge to physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, and hospital influencers. Excellent presentation skills and experience delivering education. Strong analytical, problem solving and critical thinking. Demonstrated experience in educating health care professionals; ability and comfort with coaching and mentoring. Organized and comfortable working independently.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Knowledge in determining local facilitators and barriers to implementation and developing plans to leverage or mitigation them. Ability to adjust implementation plan/activities to fit with culture and local leaders (medical and operational, formal and informal). Deliver appropriate communication/education plans and messaging to diverse stakeholders. Effectively work with clinicians who may not have bought into the evidence/rationale for change during engagement and implementation sessions. Offer recommended solutions for a wide range of complex problems related to the initiative that requires both depth and breadth of understanding strategic goals and “on the ground” capabilities. Ability to provide coaching and mentorship as required. Ability to facilitate and monitor uptake and usage of clinical practice standards and provides recommendations for each as applicable. Utilizes knowledge translation processes and quality improvement knowledge to build strong support for the initiative and clinical practice changes. Knowledge of current evidence and clinical best practices established nationally and internationally with respect to effective evidenced-informed care for mechanically ventilated patients in ED and ICUs.

Preferred Qualifications:

Graduate degree preferred.
