Physiotherapist III
Your Opportunity:
This temporary full-time PT III position fulfills various specialist roles as the Clinical Practice Leader (CPL) for the Physiotherapists & Therapy Assistants in the Allied Health Department at the SHC. The incumbent reports directly to the Allied Health Program Manager. The CPL is a mentor & coach to frontline staff: they promote standards of practice, coordinate ongoing skill development & respond to clinical questions. The CPL is expected to demonstrate an advanced level of clinical practice in order to identify areas of educational need & to provide discipline leadership. The CPL ensures that services offered meet practice & policy standards & are effective & evidence based. The incumbent must be responsive to frontline clinicians’ practice, professional goals & learning needs along with operational demands. They are expected to provide clinical practice support that includes but is not limited to case consultations, co-treatments, & direct patient care. The CPL fulfills a key leadership role & is a member of the Allied Health Leadership Team. They help inform & guide operational decisions at a departmental level. As a member of the Allied Health Leadership Team, the incumbent is expected to uphold & work towards the vision & mission of the team. The CPL must work closely with the Occupational Therapy CPL, Social Work CPL, Educational Consultant & Program Facilitator to coordinate day-to-day operations such as staff scheduling & caseload coverage as well as to provide orientation to new staff, returning staff & students. The incumbent will also work collaboratively with the AH Leadership Team to coordinate & implement quality improvement initiatives, program development & evaluation projects, and education opportunities. The PT CPL will provide coverage for the AH in-scope leaders as needed.
Description:
As a Physiotherapist III, you will be an integral member of our team through your leadership to other healthcare professionals (PT Is, PT IIs, Assistants) where you will facilitate the development and ongoing monitoring of clinical standards of practice for physiotherapy and patient (client, resident) care protocols in the department and geographical area. You will collaborate with management to support the development, implementation and evaluation of the department's operational plan strategies and may coordinate and monitor the care delivery for daily operations.

Master's degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university program; or bachelor's degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university program and related experience. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Physiotherapists of Alberta.
Additional Required Qualifications:Minimum 5 years of clinical experience with experience in at least 2 of the following areas of inpatient & outpatient areas of practice: Neurology, Geriatrics, Orthopedics, Pediatrics, Cardiology, Medicine or Critical Care/ICU. A defined leadership role in research, program development or a service delivery project within the last 12 months. Demonstrated ongoing professional development & education in leadership: completed courses related to leadership development, coaching, or mentoring. Demonstrated leadership experience in program planning, service delivery & quality improvement initiatives. Demonstrated ability to mediate conflict related to clinical practice. Demonstrated change leader & manager: has effectively led staff through transition, change & resistance. Ability to prepare presentations & use software tools such as Visio, PowerPoint, Excel, Microsoft Office Suite, etc. Experience and competence with Connect Care.
Preferred Qualifications:10 years of direct patient care experience preferred. Previous clinical/ in-scope leadership role in an acute care (hospital) setting preferred. Clinical experience in both inpatient and ambulatory services preferred. Completion of change management courses such as AHS Improvement Way (AIW) & Prosci preferred. Experience in project management, delivery & measurement of outcomes is an asset.
