Your Opportunity:

Come join the dynamic Calgary Rural Rehabilitation team! This permanent opportunity will be based out of the High River General Hospital, and will be focused on supporting Rehabilitation programming in facility. The Physiotherapist II – Site Lead provides coordination of the rehab services within the High River Hospital. The Site Lead involves supervision of students and team members as assigned and works closely together with the Program Facilitator and the manager for Rural Adult Allied Health. The Site Lead provides clinical and operational leadership within the service area to ensure safe, efficient and clinically appropriate client care. The Physiotherapist II also provides direct patient services and functions as an integral member of the inter-professional team. The High River Hospital is located 45 minutes south of Calgary and has 30 acute care beds, 50 Long Term Care beds. The multidisciplinary rehab team consists of 13 staff, supporting both the acute and LTC at the hospital as well as the emergency department, complex outpatient services, Early Hearing Detection, and home care services for High River and surrounding areas.


As a Physiotherapist II, you will provide coordination of physiotherapy and other allied health clinical services within a program or service area. You will provide supervision of students and team members as assigned. As a Physiotherapist II, you will be responsible to work both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team where you will be an integral member, providing leadership to other healthcare professionals. You will be making day-to-day clinical decisions on patient/family needs regarding assessment, intervention, discharge and follow-up. You will make decisions and advise team members on complex clinical cases and provide clinical leadership within the program or service area to ensure safe, efficient and effective client care. You will ensure physiotherapy practice is evidence based and in alignment with Alberta legislation and regulations, professional standards of practice, code of ethics and AHS policy and guidelines. You will be providing coordination of the day-to-day operations of an assigned service area and monitoring care delivery, identifying service needs and assisting other medical staff with caseload management, completing chart audits and providing follow-up and feedback to staff. You will be participating in program development and operational planning and representing the department on committees or programs. You will be making decisions on staffing level requirements, workflow and caseload priorities in collaboration with managers and other healthcare providers.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of master's degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university program or bachelor's degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university program and related experience. Active or eligible registration and practice permit with Physiotherapy Alberta College + Association.

Additional Required Qualifications:

At least 1 year experience (0.4 FTE or more) in a formal in-scope leadership position. At least 3 years clinical experience (0.5 FTE or more) in an acute care setting. Working knowledge of change management and process improvement principles. Equivalent experience may be considered.

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous experience in outpatient and/or long term care setting. Experience working within a multi-disciplinary team.
