Physician Assistant - Cardiology

The Section of Cardiology, part of the Department of Cardiac Sciences in the Calgary Corridor, is recruiting for a 1.0 FTE Physician Assistant (PA) position to support the delivery of cardiology care. Physician Assistants (PAs) are valued members of the collaborative care team at Alberta Health Services (AHS), functioning as mid-level providers under the supervision and direction of physician supervisor(s). The successful candidate will provide acute care coverage across adult acute care sites including Foothills Medical Centre, Rockyview General Hospital, Peter Lougheed Centre, and South Health Campus, contributing to high-quality patient care and making a meaningful difference in the lives of patients and their families. Description:
The Section of Cardiology, part of the Department of Cardiac Sciences in the Calgary Corridor, is seeking a qualified Physician Assistant to join a supportive and collegial interdisciplinary team environment. This is a shift-based position with expectations to work days, evenings, nights, and weekends in support of emergency cardiology care across acute care sites. The role will involve, but is not limited to, assessing, developing, and communicating care plans for patients presenting with undifferentiated acute medical and surgical concerns. The successful candidate will perform focused histories and physical examinations, interpret diagnostic investigations, and initiate evidence-based management for patients across the age spectrum. The position also supports continuity of care through thorough documentation, collaboration with consultants and interdisciplinary teams, and arranging appropriate follow-up as required. In addition, the Physician Assistant will contribute to collaborative, team-based care within a high-volume, high-acuity clinical environment.

BCLS and ACLS certification are required. Previous experience in emergency care is also required. Experience working with Epic (Connect Care) and within acute care hospital settings is considered an asset, but is not required.
