Required Qualifications:

Completion of diploma from a post-secondary program in a related field.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Degree or Diploma in Health Science or Social Science Field (e.g. social work, addiction counselling). Current CPR certificate. Knowledge and understanding of blood borne pathogens and sexually transmitted infections. Knowledge and experience of the principles and practice of harm reduction. Good communication skills (verbal and written). Ability and confidence to interact effectively with diverse populations including gender, cultural, sexual and socio-economic, particularly the homeless. Ability to work in an interdisciplinary team. Experience in using electronic medical records and computer systems (Ex: Netcare). Skilled in social networking and collaborating with community partners. Ability to deliver health information and appropriate referrals. Knowledge of systemic issues such as poverty and stigma.

Preferred Qualifications:

Minimum two years’ experience in an outreach role, public health and/or mental health within the last four years. Knowledge of problems encountered by Indigenous people in using health care services, and of health care systems providing care to Indigenous people. Knowledge of an Indigenous language will be considered an asset. Mental Health First Aid and NVCI (non-violent crisis intervention).
