Required Qualifications:

Completion of an orthoptic course from an accredited institution. Active membership with the Canadian Orthoptic Council (COC).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Minimum of three years' experience as an orthoptist (preferably in a Hospital Eye cCinic or an Ophthalmologist's office). Current BCLS-HCP certification. The successful applicant will be self-directed and relate well to health team professionals, patients, and families; show good judgment; possess excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills; and set priorities and make decisions that are appropriate to the position.

Preferred Qualifications:

Current member of the Joint Commission of Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (JCAHPO) is preferred. Additional training and certification as an Ophthalmic Medical technologist is preferred.
