Your Opportunity:

This Occupational Therapist II position offers an all-encompassing opportunity to provide client centred care to adult clients in acute care, LTC, homecare and outpatients. The successful candidate will have a broad skill set to meet a variety of client's needs. As our Occupational Therapist II, you will be working both independently and in close collaboration as part of a dynamic, inter professional team with therapy assistants, homecare managers and other allied health professionals, responsible for providing client centered care to adult clients. You will provide clinical direction to a Therapy Assistant and will be offered the opportunity to share the responsibility for mentoring Occupational Therapy or Therapy Assistant students. You will assess individual and community needs based on abilities, interactions and participation and follow-up with planning, implementing and evaluating safe quality programs aimed at enhancing optimal client function. You will collaborate, cooperate and develop effective partnerships with other providers with a focus on prevention, protection, treatment and promotion for all ages across the continuum of services. This position requires you to be able to lift a minimum of 45 pounds and will require you to walk, stand, crouch or kneel periodically throughout the shift. Three Hills is a small by progressive town located 160 km southeast of Red Deer in central Alberta, taking its name from the three highly visible hills that are situated to the north. The Three Hills Health Centre is a full service facility, along with a busy Rehabilitation department and Public and Community Health and Mental Health. Three Hills is the perfect place for the car enthusiast and hosts a Cruise Weekend every June with a Show and Shine and Drag Racing.


As an Occupational Therapist II, you will be responsible for coordination of occupational therapy and other allied health clinical services within a program or service area. You will provide supervision of students and team members as assigned. As an Occupational Therapist II, you will be responsible to work both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team where you will be an integral member, providing leadership to other healthcare professionals. You will be making day-to-day clinical decisions on patient/family needs regarding assessment, intervention, discharge and follow-up. You will make decisions and advise team members on complex clinical cases and provide clinical leadership within the program or service area to ensure safe, efficient and effective client care. You will ensure occupational therapy practice is evidence-based and in alignment with Alberta legislation and regulations, professional standards of practice, code of ethics and AHS policy and guidelines. You will be providing coordination of the day-to-day operations of an assigned service area and monitoring care delivery, identifying service needs and assisting other medical staff with caseload management, completing chart audits and providing follow-up and feedback to staff. You will be participating in program development and operational planning and representing the department on committees or programs. You will be making decisions on staffing level requirements, workflow and caseload priorities in collaboration with managers and other healthcare providers. As assigned, you will carry out the roles of a direct clinical service provider, consultant, educator and/or advocate in your program or service area.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of master's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university program or bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university program and related experience. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the Alberta College of Occupational Therapists (ACOT).

Additional Required Qualifications:

A class V driver’s license and reliable vehicle is required. Current CPR/BLS.

Preferred Qualifications:

AADL authorizer is an asset.
