Your Opportunity:

The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the Children, Youth, & Families, Addiction and Mental Health (CYF AMH) Morinville Community Clinic and the St. Albert and Sturgeon School Districts Regional Collaborative Service Delivery (RCSD). The Mental Health Therapist responds to assigned schools for individual or group service. The Therapist will provide mental health assessment, treatment, case coordination, crisis intervention and consultation to children and youth experiencing psychological, emotional, social and/or behavioral difficulties that affect their learning and well-being at school or the well-being of their fellow students. The Therapist will provide linkages to community CYF AMH services and collaborate with school personnel, parent(s) or guardians, and a broad range of community professionals and services to meet the goal of assisting students’ learning and well-being to support them in functioning more successfully in school. The Therapist will provide services from a family centered, concurrent capable care framework, addressing the needs across the continuum of care. The Mental Health Therapist will also be involved in case conferences, staff meetings, professional development activities, liaison with community partners, and other related duties as required. This position operates according to the school year (September to June) and is closed for July and August, during Spring Break and Christmas Break. The position works on all instructional school days.


As the Mental Health Therapist, you will be required to perform the restricted activity of psychosocial intervention utilizing a variety of treatment modalities (individual, family, group) to persons experiencing significant mental health difficulties. Working both independently and as a member of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will provide evidence informed and best practices in crisis intervention, assessment, consultation, referral, case management and treatment.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of one of the following programs: Master's degree in Psychology. Master's degree in Social Work (clinical specialization) including education in mental health assessment and psychotherapy and who have Psychosocial Intervention Authorization. Master's degree in Occupational Therapy including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy. Master's degree in Nursing and Psychiatric Nursing including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable regulatory college.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Candidates with the following qualifications will be considered: Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy with considerable experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy. Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing with a related Master’s degree including training in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy or considerable experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy. 3-5 years of direct clinical experience related to trauma with the focus on children, youth and their families. A combination of education and experience will be considered. Advanced levels of knowledge and skill in the assessment and treatment of mental, emotional and behavioral disorders is required. Current BCLS-HCP certification required. Provisional status with current registration with CAP will be considered. This position requires a vehicle for business use. Possession of a valid driver’s license and access to a motor vehicle in good repair for work-related travel is required.
