Your Opportunity:

An exciting opportunity awaits in Castor! As a Mental Health Therapist, you will be a member of an interdisciplinary team providing a range of clinical services to clients and their families. You will deliver direct client care to multiple sites including Coronation and Consort with the primary location being Castor. As the Mental Health Therapist, you will be responsible for the delivery of a continuum of treatment services, including screening, assessment, treatment planning, harm reduction, case management and therapeutic interventions in individual and group settings, primarily with the adult population. You will work from a concurrent capable framework, and must be able to provide a wide variety of evidence-informed treatment modalities to individuals with mental health and addictions issues. This is an advanced clinical role required to perform the restricted activity of Psychosocial Interventions. You will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, with allied professionals and community agencies to provide seamless service to clients. As this position is based in a rural setting, you must be able to function extremely well both independently and interdependently as you will work within a small office of highly dedicated individuals, as well as within the larger Rural Team. As the Mental Health Therapist, you will be required to perform the restricted activity of psychosocial intervention utilizing a variety of treatment modalities (individual, family, group) to persons experiencing significant mental health difficulties. Working both independently and as a member of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will provide evidence informed and best practices in crisis intervention, assessment, consultation, referral, case management and treatment.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of one of the following programs: Master's degree in Psychology. Master's degree in Social Work (clinical specialization) including education in mental health assessment and psychotherapy and who have Psychosocial Intervention Authorization. Master's degree in Occupational Therapy including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy. Master's degree in Nursing and Psychiatric Nursing including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable regulatory college.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Extensive knowledge and familiarity with a strength-based, client-centred approach. Extensive knowledge of a variety of therapeutic modalities, including cognitive-behavioural therapy, solution-focused therapy, and motivational interviewing. Nonviolent Crisis Intervention. Possession of a valid Alberta non-GDL driver’s license (non-Graduated Driver's License).

Preferred Qualifications:

Minimum of two years’ experience providing a full spectrum of mental health therapeutic services in a concurrent capable setting. Experience working with Family Services, Health Partnership Initiatives, and Multicultural groups. Standard First Aid and/or current Heart & Stroke BLS certification.
