Your Opportunity:

This Mental Health Therapist (MHT) position will work with the Holy Spirit, Livingstone and Horizon School Divisions in Pincher Creek, Cardston and surrounding communities. The MHT is responsible for a caseload of children and adolescents in the elementary, middle and high schools with mental health issues and additional complexities such as concurrent substance use. This position will work collaboratively with Family School Liaison Counsellors, other AHS professionals, community partners and natural supports to enhance the lives of these individuals in regard to mental health and concurrent disorders. Additionally the MHT will participate in health promotion activities and contribute to the establishment and maintenance of addiction and mental health resources. Position location is negotiable, locations include Cardston or Pincher Creek.

Description:

As the Mental Health Therapist, you will be required to perform the restricted activity of psychosocial intervention utilizing a variety of treatment modalities (individual, family, group) to persons experiencing significant mental health difficulties. Working both independently and as a member of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will provide evidence informed and best practices in crisis intervention, assessment, consultation, referral, case management and treatment.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of one of the following programs: Master's degree in Psychology. Master's degree in Social Work (clinical specialization) including education in mental health assessment and psychotherapy and who have Psychosocial Intervention Authorization. Master's degree in Occupational Therapy including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy. Master's degree in Nursing and Psychiatric Nursing including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable regulatory college.

Additional Required Qualifications:

A minimum of three years of clinically relevant experience working with children, youth and families.

Preferred Qualifications:

Violence Threat Risk Assessment Level I and II. Non Violent Crisis Intervention.
