Your Opportunity:

Working as part of a concurrent capable team, the Mental Health Therapist will provide information, prevention/promotion, assessment and treatment services to individuals, families, groups, other agencies and the community as a whole with regards to mental health and concurrent addiction and mental health issues. The Mental Health Therapist is responsible for: assessment, making a provisional diagnosis, treatment planning, treatment, case management, crisis intervention, clinical consultation, education and referral services for clients, their families as appropriate, with mental health and concurrent disorder issues. Must be able to perform psychosocial interventions to treat a substantial disorder of thought, mood, perception, orientation or memory that impairs judgement, behavior, and capacity to recognize reality or ability to meet ordinary demands of life. Service is provided primarily in a clinic setting and may occasionally be provided within other settings as designated by the Clinical Supervisor or Manager. Assisting with the development, implementation and evaluation of addiction prevention and mental health promotion projects, along with community capacity building initiatives, will also be expectations of this position.


As the Mental Health Therapist, you will be required to perform the restricted activity of psychosocial intervention utilizing a variety of treatment modalities (individual, family, group) to persons experiencing significant mental health difficulties. Working both independently and as a member of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will provide evidence informed and best practices in crisis intervention, assessment, consultation, referral, case management and treatment.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of one of the following programs: master's degree in Psychology; master's degree in Social Work (clinical specialization) including education in mental health assessment and psychotherapy; master's degree in Occupational Therapy including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy; master's degree in Nursing and Psychiatric Nursing including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy; Active or eligible for registration with the applicable regulatory college.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Minimum of three years related and relevant post degree/diploma experience required – five years preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

CPR/First Aid Certification. Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) Certification.
