Your Opportunity:

This Medical Radiation Technologist II position involves the performance of CT and general radiography. The majority of time will be spent in CT. Drayton Valley is a town in central Alberta, Canada. It is located on Highway 22, approximately 133 kilometers southwest of Edmonton. It is surrounded by Brazeau County, known for its vast oil fields. The town is located between the North Saskatchewan River and the Pembina River with a population of over 7 200 people. This position is responsible for providing quality service to the clients of Diagnostic Imaging Services in an effective, efficient, and safe manner. As a member of the Diagnostic Imaging team, the incumbent is required to work all shifts, as assigned. Please note, this facility provides Long Term Care (LTC) or Designated Supportive Living (DSL) services and by Order of the Chief Medical Officer of Health, many AHS employees are restricted to work only at a single LTC/DSL site for the remainder of the pandemic. Speak to the hiring manager who will confirm if, as the successful candidate in this position, you will be restricted to work at only one LTC/DLS site in Alberta.

Description:

As a Medical Radiation Technologist (MRT) II, you will perform specialized technical radiological imaging examinations on patients for the purpose of disease and pathology diagnosis. You may perform specialized diagnostic imaging procedures for Physician/Radiologist review, interpret physician requisitions and assist with the care and maintenance of imaging equipment.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of diploma from an accredited Medical Radiation Technologist (MRT) program. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic and Therapeutic Technologists (ACMDTT). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Demonstrated proficient organizational, technical, interpersonal, communication and computer skills required. Demonstrated ability to assume responsibility, to work effectively both independently and within a team environment required. Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and in emergency situations required. Demonstrated ability to use tact, courtesy and professionalism with patients, staff and physicians required. Demonstrated ability in the areas of perception, initiative, judgement and concern for detail and accuracy required. Practices effective radiation protection, infection control and safety techniques as applicable. Ability to adapt to changes. Demonstrated desire and actions to further own knowledge relating to profession.

Preferred Qualifications:

Relevant and current CT experience.
