Description:

TBCC is a tertiary cancer centre, offering a complete range of treatment options to more than 3400 patients per year. The successful applicant will have a once-in-a-career opportunity to be part of bringing the new Calgary Cancer Centre (CCC) to clinical operation. Construction of the CCC began in November 2017, and the centre will begin treating patients in 2023. The CCC will have 10 Linacs, 2 MR-Linacs at opening with a total of 15 vaults. There will be two MRIs dedicated for simulation and brachytherapy, as well as orthovoltage, a CT simulator, and a PET-CT simulator. This cutting-edge equipment combined with innovative clinical programs will be the basis of on-going research at CCC. The Department of Medical Physics at TBCC has active teaching and research programs. The graduate program currently typically enrolls 8-12 MSc and PhD students at a time. The Post PhD Diploma (Residency) program has two residents enrolled. Programs are CAMPEP-accredited and are run through the University of Calgary https://ucalgary.ca/radiation-oncology-physics. Our division members are all actively involved in the academic programs; teaching, training and supervising original research studies. Clinical electronics, design lab and computer applications groups, as well as medical physicist fellows, support the clinical and academic mandate of the department.

Required Qualifications:

PhD in Medical Physics. Completion of an accredited residency program or equivalent and eligible for certification through the Canadian College of Physicists in Medicine. Demonstrated commitment to the highest clinical standards and highly developed interpersonal, team work, organizational and leadership skills are also required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Member of Canadian College of Physicists in Medicine. Experience in clinical medical physics and research is an asset.
