Your Opportunity:

The Manager of Renfrew Recovery Centre is a key leadership position that provides onsite support, mentoring and leadership to a multi-disciplinary team, treating clients in a community based detox Centre. Working in conjunction with the site physician leadership, the Manager will provide direction to frontline staff to ensure positive health outcomes for this population. With a deep understanding of the models of recovery and a commitment to patient and family centered care, the manager will promote the use of best practices and maintain a high standard of excellence for the provision of care. The Manager will actively engage and consult with staff to identify areas of opportunity to improve clinical intervention, support knowledge acquisition and promote a high functioning dynamic team. This will include a deep understanding of the challenges that are inherent with recovery and supporting staff when clients’ present or are defiant of care. The Manager is responsible for the effective management of both the Human and Financial Resources on the site. This includes the implementation of new initiatives, development of standards and policies, supervision of staff, hiring, and working with community partners.


Reporting to the Director of Addiction and Mental Health, Calgary NE, the Manager will oversee the day-to-day operations of the Centre and work with the staff and physician group to maintain a standard of care, following best practices for the treatment of addictions. The Manager is crucial as the lead for implementing Provincial and Regional initiatives that focus on continuous quality improvement, AIM/AIW, safety programs, NVCI / CPS / eSIM exercises, as well as, Patient and Family Centered Care. Fundamental managerial skills related to budgeting, financial reporting, and Human Resource management are a required skillset. The manager must be able to work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders, to build consensus towards our common objectives.

Required Qualifications:

A graduate of a recognized University program with a Baccalaureate Degree in a relevant discipline. Registration in a professional organization in accordance with the Health Professions Act of Alberta. A minimum of 5 years of progressive management experience within the domain of Healthcare. A deep understanding and knowledge of the treatment of addictions. Knowledge of current safety programs that are commonly used in the healthcare setting. A clinical background in addictions and mental health. Managerial knowledge of financial management, HR processes, critical thinking and problem solving. Experience supporting the implementation of initiatives through AIM/AIW or other quality improvement strategies.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Knowledge and understanding of the Addictions and Mental Health continuum. Commitment to ongoing professional development and continuous education. Understanding of the LEADS model in healthcare and its application at the frontline.

Preferred Qualifications:

A Master’s degree is preferred. Community mental health experience with a sharp emphasis on community detox or inpatient medical detox.
