Completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:A candidate who can work effectively within a multidisciplinary team to provide family focused nursing care is required. Self-directed individual with a positive attitude and demonstrated excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills, evidenced by performance appraisals and reference checks. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to provide quality care to patients and to report observations. Demonstrated commitment for continuing education through professional development activities. Educational opportunities will be provided to the successful candidate. Competence in relevant technical nursing skills and a willingness to learn new skills. Basic computer skills. Ability to work shift work and meet the physical demands of the job.
Preferred Qualifications:Nurses with interest and experience in caring for patients and families experiencing stroke is optimal. Experience on an acute medical unit or neurology unit and chronic disease management is preferred. Knowledge in meeting the needs of medical patient populations, with interest and experience in caring for stroke and neurology patients is preferred.
