Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Demonstrate effective time management and organizational skills. Demonstrated critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making abilities required. Successful completion of a recognized Practical Nursing educational program (diploma or certificate in practical nursing). Must have Physical Assessment, IV Therapy and Medication Administration course. Successful candidate must be able to lift 40lbs (18kg). Basic computer skills required. The NARP program requires candidates to complete/pass Hemodialysis Training. Candidates with previous experience will be required to complete Hemodialysis Training as per Manager/Educators discretion. Hemodialysis Training is held in Edmonton or Red Deer. A passing mark of 80% on the final exam and satisfactory performance during clinical component is required to move on to buddy shifts. Upon successful completion of the orientation the LPN will be able to proceed to the unit specific orientation - shifts as assigned by the Unit Manager. Required to attend 2-day mandatory post orientation (3Months Post).

Preferred Qualifications:

Minimum 1-2 years recent Adult Acute Care experience. Recent acute and chronic hemodialysis and/or nephrology nursing experience.
