Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:Previous experience with Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology surgical patients. Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary team environment. Basic computer skills. Candidates are required to write a medication calculation exam during the interview. Failure to achieve a passing mark on the exam may impact the decision to hire. Demonstrated excellent organizational, interpersonal, communication and priority setting skills. The position requires candidates to perform moderate to heavy work (greater than 50 lbs.) on a regular basis in an RN/LPN/HCA capacity in order to ensure safe patient care and the safety of unit staff. This job is physically demanding. The incumbent will be required to assist with lifting, turning, and mobilizing patients, as well as other physical tasks. Preferred Qualifications:Two years of recent surgical experience is preferred. Two years ophthalmology & Otolaryngology experience preferred.
