Completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:Nursing experience in an addiction and Mental Health setting within the last 3 years is required. Student experience considered. Understanding of DSM-V, Alberta Mental Health Act, and other governing standards/ legislation for practice required. Basic knowledge of mental health diagnosis (DSM V), symptomatology and treatment modalities/interventions Strong critical thinking, assessment, strong knowledgebase in mental health and intervention skills required. Demonstrates initiative, reliability, and flexibility. Able to adapt to change effectively. Demonstrated ability to maintain collaborative working relationship with patients, families and team members. Demonstrated ability in Acute Mental Health Crisis Management. Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training (NVCI) certification required or must be obtained after employment. Demonstrated interpersonal, communication skills and a demonstrated patient and family centered approach required. Ability to promptly, respectfully, resolve conflict in keeping with AHS Policies, Values and code of conduct. Computer proficiency required. Motivated to learn and participate in professional development and educational programs.
Preferred Qualifications:Working knowledge of Collaborative Problem Solving. Experience on an acute adult inpatient psychiatric service.
