Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Basic computer skills. Demonstrated interpersonal, organizational and assessment skills. Demonstrated ability to maintain effective working relationships with the interdisciplinary team. Demonstrated ability to work independently while maintain collaboration with team members. Demonstrated ability to adapt quickly to changing and fluctuating workloads and work conditions. Demonstrated accountability, critical thinking, interpersonal and communication skills. Demonstrated ability to respond to new needs in the role as they arise, within initiative and self-directedness. Sound observation and strong verbal communication skills. English language proficiency required. Demonstrated critical thinking and problem solving skills. Effective and hard worker with a focus on caring for and engaging with patients. Ability to adapt quickly to changes in daily schedule and patient needs. Positive attitude and the ability to work effectively in an Acute Psychiatry setting.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working within the CoACT framework an asset. Experience working with persons with significant mental illness and/or addictions an asset and preferred. Minimum 1-2 years of experience in an adult acute practice setting. Non-violent crisis intervention training. Working knowledge of patient and family centered care principles. Working knowledge of the CoACT model of care. Working knowledge of trauma informed care. Working knowledge of harm reduction model and the stages of change.
