Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Demonstrate excellent communication skills with patients, co-workers and public. Accountable for the nursing care provided within the knowledge and skills outlined by the legislation and the profession. Evidence of integrity, initiative and sound judgment as a professional. Commitment to promoting a positive work environment. Ability to provide teaching and emotional support to patient and family. Effectively and efficiently work independently and as a party of a team to provide patient care; contributing to case conferences, nursing care and discharge planning. Accurately observe and assess patient conditions using knowledge of the disease process. Monitor, document, report and respond to changes in patient's physical, mental and/or emotional state. Transfer patients, move equipment, walk, bend and stand frequently during any shift. Provide thorough orientation for new staff members following established checklist. Maintain competency through continuous learning, education and experience. Must be able to work shift work. Must possess basic computer skills.
