Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Alberta (CMLTA).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Experience with decision-making and problem-solving skills. Current clinical laboratory experience and knowledge in Chemistry, Hematology, and Transfusion Medicine. Perform a variety of manual and automated procedures and related duties following established standards and practices. Respective responsibilities include: procurement, preparation and testing of specimens, operation of department equipment, maintaining quality control, and maintenance of department records. The ability to recognize testing or procedural anomalies and act appropriately to resolve these is required. Must have the ability to operate Windows based computer applications. The successful candidate must be flexible and able to work well independently and within a team environment. Effective time management, strong organizational and communication/interpersonal skills are required. Ability to organize and work efficiently in a dynamic environment. Ability to demonstrate sound judgment. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Must be available for on-call duties with travel time not to exceed 30 minutes. Ability to work cooperatively with others and work effectively in a team oriented environment. Ability to represent department with a professional manner.
