Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant training program.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Excellent phlebotomy skills required. Ability to organize and prioritize workload as well as work under pressure is required. Excellent computer and keyboarding skills are required. Strong interpersonal skills in dealing with patients and other health care providers are required. Good performance and attendance is required. Candidate must possess the ability to work independently as well as in a group setting. Actively promotes and participates in Alberta Health Services Code of Conduct and AHS Values of Compassion, Accountability, Respect, Excellence and Safety.

Preferred Qualifications:

Successful completion of a Phlebotomy, Medical Terminology, and Specimen Accession course is preferred if candidate is not from an accredited MLA day program. Equivalencies of experience and course work will be considered. Experience in a Hospital Setting is preferred.
