Completion of bachelor's degree in a health related field. Minimum three years' experience in a clinical health care setting, OR experience and proficiency in two of the following: 1) patient care practice, 2) microbiology and infectious diseases, or 3) epidemiology and biostatistics. Active registration with the applicable college or hold an advanced degree in a health related field.
Additional Required Qualifications:Previous clinical experience in Infection Prevention and Control is required. Strong computer skills, excellent communication skills, and an ability to function well both independently, and within a team. Consistent ability to concentrate, recall and memorize, think critically, interact socially and problem solve. Ability to synthesize complex standards and guidelines and apply to complex situations then translate the information to other stakeholders. The ICP is responsible for ongoing personal professional development and maintaining a current knowledge and competency base (may include graduate level course, CIC). As the ICP often deals with issues of sensitivity, political acumen and discretion are essential. The ICP works with staff to create a positive work environment and maintains commitment to the AHS CARES values by completing projects and tasks correctly and on time, and using respectful communication. Strong organizational skills are necessary as well as the ability to adeptly shift focus and priorities due to the mobile nature of the position.
Preferred Qualifications:Certification in Infection Control (CIC) from the Certification Board of Infection Control Board (CBIC). Additional formal training in Infection Prevention and Control in an IPAC endorsed course. The ICP will be required to lead teams for project work making experience in project and change management an asset.
