Required Qualifications:

A minimum of a PhD in Indigenous Health, Population Health, Epidemiology, Health Research or a health related field. A minimum of 10 years research experience in a health care organization. Experience should be in an applied research/innovation environment. A minimum of 6 years of progressive leadership experience in a large health care organization required. A minimum of 3 years’ experience working directly with an Indigenous community(s). Strong knowledge and expertise of innovation concepts, principles and methods. High level of expertise in their discipline (e.g. Indigenous health, population health, epidemiology). Broad scientific and health system knowledge in order to shape the integration of innovation into operations. Broad based skills and knowledge of several quantitative and qualitative research methodologies within both Western and Indigenous paradigms. Proven track record of championing innovation and scientific concepts, principles and methods in innovation, research, evaluation, QI, measurement and knowledge integration in the health care field, as well as preparing proposals, conducting studies, and preparation of novel knowledge translation strategies.


Additional Required Qualifications:

Proven ability to plan, organize, and manage short and long term plans and projects to deliver innovative solutions for complex and diverse issues related to health status reporting. Successful leadership experience and advanced skills in innovation and project planning, execution, reporting, monitoring and evaluation. Proven ability to foster partnerships within an organization of significant size, complexity, and diversity as well as with Indigenous health agencies, government, committees, and other partners to deliver customer focused solutions. Ability to foster a climate of collaboration and cooperation among, and build solid relationships with, Indigenous peoples and communities, public agencies, government, boards, committees and other stakeholders/partners. Sound working knowledge of planning concepts related to budgetary, staffing, quality, and innovative and strategic initiatives. Proven experience in managing diverse human resources in a changing and multifaceted environment with diverse and complex issues. Ability to coach, teach, and to inspire and build confidence in senior professionals and others. Excellent writer with demonstrated ability to write to various audiences. Experience in initiating and fostering positive relationships and productive partnerships with key internal and external stakeholders.


Preferred Qualifications:

Leadership in areas of Indigenous health is a strong asset. Expert knowledge and understanding of how health services and systems work together to effectively implement innovative approaches to knowledge creation and application. Clear understanding of AHS and AH goals to incorporate these into all planning and documentation. Ability to manage diverse human, financial and physical resources in a changing environment with complex and sensitive issues.
