Required Qualifications:

As a bona fide occupational requirement, and under Section 11 of the Alberta Human Rights Act, only Indigenous applicants will be considered. We encourage Indigenous candidates to self- identify. Grade 12 Diploma minimum. College certificate/diploma in related health care discipline, such as Community Health Representative, Social Work, Nursing preferred (If part of a registered profession—registration in good standing with applicable governing body). High degree of cultural competence as it relates to working with Indigenous people.


Additional Required Qualifications:

Knowledge of local Indigenous history and experience in local Indigenous culture. Ability to travel across Alberta; occasionally in remote areas with no public transport. Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external partners in a respectful and collaborative manner. Broad knowledge of Indigenous history and cultures within Alberta. Critical thinking in order to execute and develop innovative and culturally appropriate approaches to attracting Indigenous people to AHS. Proven ability to foster partnerships, establish and maintain strong working relationships with First Nations and Metis communities, public agencies and government. Understand the politically sensitive nature of working with multiple culturally diverse individuals and groups.


Preferred Qualifications:

Ability to speak or understand any of the Indigenous languages spoken within the territories of Treaty 6, Treaty 7, Treaty 8 or the Metis Settlements of Alberta. Broad knowledge of Diversity and Inclusion concepts.
