Top Tip: The Easiest Way to Share Postings

The easiest way to share a job posting with someone internal or external to AHS is to share the requisition identification number (located at the top of the posting starting with ALB). The requisition identification number can easily be searched on the job board.

Required Qualifications:

Must meet one of the Alberta Health Services (AHS) Health Care Aide (HCA) competency requirements: Certified - certified as a Health Care Aide through a Government of Alberta licensed post-secondary institution using the Provincial Health Care Aide Curriculum. Evidence required upon hire; or Substantially Equivalent - an educational background deemed equivalent as compared to the approved Provincial Health Care Aide Curriculum. Evidence required upon hire; or Deemed Competent - assessed as competent by an Alberta regulated nurse, using the Provincial Competency Assessment Profile Tool. Evidence required upon hire; or candidate would be required to register for a HCA course from a Government of Alberta licensed post-secondary institution using the Provincial Health Care Aide Curriculum within 155 hours or 6 weeks (whichever comes first), and successfully complete the course within 12 month timeline from date of hire.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Ability to work within an interdisciplinary team in a community setting to provide personal care and home support for clients as assigned by case coordinators. Must be able to meet the physical demands of the job. Good communication and observational skills is required. Reliable and responsible to provide quality and consistent care to home care clients. Knowledgeable to report changes in client care needs to Registered Nurse.

Preferred Qualifications:

Familiarity with using a PC, Internet, and Microsoft Office applications is an asset.
