Required Qualifications:

Completion of diploma from an accredited Health Information Management Professional (HIMP) program. Active or eligible for registration with the Canadian Health Information Management Association (CHIMA).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Certification with the Canadian College of Health Information Management (CCHIM). 3 years recent experience with ICD-10-CA/CCI coding preferably using 3M Encoder and Grouper. 3 years recent abstracting experience preferably using Meditech software. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. Must have good organizational, analytical, and technical skills in order to meet the demands of coding and meeting the deadlines set by Alberta Health Services, Alberta Health and Wellness, and CIHI.

Preferred Qualifications:

3 – 5 years’ experience in a leadership role. Familiarity with Provincial Acts including, but not limited to the Hospital Act, Health Information Act, and Freedom of Information Act. Previous experience with electronic health records an asset.
