Required Qualifications:

Completion of diploma from an accredited Health Information Management Professional (HIMP) program. Active or eligible for registration with the Canadian Health Information Management Association (CHIMA).

Additional Required Qualifications:

One to two years related management experience preferred. Must have demonstrated leadership abilities. Good knowledge of Health Information/Records Management. At least five years’ experience in coding and abstracting using the current classification system. Knowledge of health records information systems and processes. Knowledge of access and disclosure rules in keeping with the Health Information Act of Alberta and the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act of Alberta is required. Previous experience with an Admission / Discharge/Transfer program desired, preferably Meditech. Strong computer skills. Strong organizational and planning skills. Must possess and demonstrate exceptional interpersonal skills, be self-motivated, flexible, and be able to meet deadlines within a changing, fast-paced work environment. Must be able to maintain poise under pressure. Must have strong communication skills using the English language to read, write, speak, and communicate effectively. An excellent attendance record, reliability and personal suitability must be demonstrated through employment references.

Preferred Qualifications:

Able to maintain credentials with the Canadian College of Health Information Management Professionals and be an active member, in good standing, of CHIMA. Previous registration, switchboard and basic accounting knowledge preferred.
